Persistently Confronting the Dead Ends

Veterans have had to do heavy lift after heavy lift, and still it continues.  In the face of cultural intransigence, Scott and Glen animatedly explore how both veterans of war and those who sent them might be liberated from places where we are perpetually stuck, conditions that never seem to heal, patterns that never get broken.  We reject the politics of death and despair, and the pathologizing of the most deeply human among us.  We believe it is important to confront societal anesthesia and denial, risking painful honesty, embodying persistent hope, and engaging moral imagination in ways that touch pain and open us to fresh possibilities.  This episode picks up the threads of a number of previous conversations while pushing beyond where we ourselves have gotten stuck.  Frustration and lament become sources of hope.  Actions and moral codes demand reconnection.  We discuss ways of bringing people together and uniting our experiences across previously defined barriers of behavior and thought.  "Reality" is no longer an excuse for cynicism but now a frontier for reconciliation.  Glen believes that veterans on transformative paths become hope.  Scott has some tough love for faith communities shrinking from moral integrity.
